For xmas my wife bought me a S&W SW40VE. Does anyone have any experience with this gun or round. I have been a .45 ACP fan but the 14 round capacity with more stopping power than a 9mm has me thinking.
Safer because its sub-sonic? I don't get that. The speed of sound is 1130fps,less than that and a round would be subsonic. About the only load thats not at 1130 or more for the .40 is the 180gr. Most 165s are close and the 155s and 135s are over. 155s are probably the most common weight for personal defense carry. The Peddler said:Gun Opinon: There's hardly a better value (except a couple Taurus models) in semi-auto's than that S&W Sigma.
.40 S&W Opinion: Good stopping power, less felt recoil, high-capacity, and safer round. Safer due to it's sub-sonic velocities, less likely to experience over-penetration. Perfect self-defense round, since most self-defense situations are close-contact, and the use of higher velocity rounds is not necessary.
Or to keep him outa the house :lol:sr5mike said:She is a keeper thats for sure. She also got me a curado 300dsv. Now thats a lady that know how to keep a man happy.

How about we get a volunteer and shoot him with each, then ask which one was worse? #1 is shot placement, if you go thru 15+ rounds to stop a threat...it MAY be time to hit the RANGE before you carry. JMHO, YMMV. And the .40 will do exactly what its supposed to.
I was very surprised and she got me a holster and a box of ammo. She is a keeper.gear addict said:She made the choise for you, and did a good job. Your one lucky dude!
A .40 is a wise choise for a carry gun. High cap, and plenty of stopping power. I am not experianced with that mod of Smith, but if you don't want it you can give it to me. wink:
