For blackmouth, I use the 10'6" 12-20 medium. For summer and fall kings I step up to a Lamiglas Classic Glass.

I second what commander X said I have both but like the classic glass better. Those are the guest rods my personal rod is the certified pro glass 10'6" love those long rods but they can be a handfull for those not used to them on a boat.

We have 4 of 10'6'' 10-20 and one 10'6'' 12-25 on the North River. I like the 10-20 better then the 12-25 for plugs, heck I like it better for the flashers too....

FWIW, Quantum has recently produced a 10'6" IM8 rod with a 12-25lb line rating in their ColdWater series. I've been using a prototype rod for downrigger fishing for a couple seasons now, and I really like it. These rods will retail for about $70, but I'll have some at the Sportsmen's show for under $50. Come check 'em out!

I've been fishing these sticks for 2 seasons now and I really like them, they are inexpensive 50.00-60.00 a piece and they really load up nice on the downriggers and play the fish well at first I thought they would be to wimpie but they have proven otherwise. I think you will be happy with these ;)

The posts above say the 10'6" Convergence comes in 12-25 and 10-20 and 12-20.

The Shimano website has the 12-20 and 12-25 listed, but the 10-20 is missing on the 10'6" model. Has the 10-20 been discontinued? I don't ever see it in the tackle stores or in online places like Cabelas. Is the 10-20 that much lighter in feel than the 12-20?

Thanks guys.....the concensus is good and I did not know there were that many people using those rods....I will have to retire my blood splattered old Shimano Triton 8' 6" downrigger rod. It has been good to me, but does not set the hook as a 10' 6" stick would....Cabelas here I come Tup:

I have two of the 10'6" Convergence rods, my old one is the fiberglass version and the new one is the IM-6 composite. The old one has a little more flex than the new ones and is a little more beefer in the butt. Both are nice but I favor the old one.
