I agree, and the process is fairly painless once you do a few. Some other parts to consider replacing at the same time might be the worm drive and the pall, fairly cheap to do, and usually necessary if you do a lot of casting. WD-40 makes a great cleaner, and a little soap and water to get the excess egg goo off will do wonders. It really does make your reels like new, and is cheap to do yourself!
