Racy photos cost Oregon mayor her job
Oregon town votes to strip mayor of office over MySpace underwear pics
The Associated Press
updated 3:11 p.m. PT, Wed., Feb. 27, 2008

ARLINGTON, Ore. - The mayor of an Oregon town who once stripped to her underwear and posed on a fire truck has been stripped of her office.

Voters in this town of about 500 voted narrowly Monday to recall Carmen Kontur-Gronquist. The tally was 142-139. City officials said the recall was effective Tuesday.

Kontur-Gronquist said the pictures of her in black bra and panties were taken for use in a contest about fitness, but a relative posted them on MySpace in hopes it would improve the social life of the single mother.

They predated her election, but she said she saw no reason to take them off the popular Web site once elected three years ago. Later, she closed access to them.

Opponents said it was not fitting for the mayor to be so depicted. They said they also disagreed with her on issues about water and the local golf course.

Will that's probably a load off her chest. Hmmm she reminds me of Ann Coulter. They could be sisters, hair color doesn't mean anything now days. Pectoral adornment too is subject to modification on demand.

Fishinfoolz and SS wanted to debate the merits of scantly clad women and I found this very interesting. I'm hoping they will continue their debate here.

Here is the thread that inspired this post:

I'll bet if it weren't for all the fat ugly women in her town, she'd still be in office.

I thought you'd have better intuition than that Bruce. All my time on these boards have taught me that the prudes are usually uptight, sexually dysfunctional men. This fat ugly woman never feels threatened. I'd tell you the reason for that, but this is a family board and you don't allow "explicit" and I don't want to get anybody worked up.

It doesn't bother me if a public official has posed in her undies. It would bother me if she took bribes to pass some sort of city ordinance.

Having never laid on you FS I cannot pass judgement. Although in a lifetime of observing the females of the species I have reached the conclusion that a fat woman will amost always have a male near at hand while the closer the bone types often have to go it alone. Perhaps that's by choice, but I don't think so. Singularities are interesting in matters of Space but not in the human condition.
Even Madison Avenue has finally realized the fact that the runway gals are much to bony for anyone's taste. Just trying to emulate them causes the deaths of many teenage girls annually. Hence the buxom pleasantly plump models now seen in the ads.... Not a penchant for national obesity at work either.

That just goes to show you that some people don't their a$$ from a hole in the ground. conf: clown: :?

I've been watching that story for several months now since it broke and the main difference from that story and the coffee thread is that is a grown woman in nothing more than bra and panties compared to young impressionable nearly naked/topless pastied up girls in a place viewable to the public. Good grief even fat ugly women and a dirty old men should know the difference. :D

So if you want to debate apples and apples or oranges and oranges lets go. Where do you want to start? How men have capitalized on the naiveté' and exploitation of young girls which helps contribute to the multi billion dollar internet porn industry and feed the proliferation of drug abuse, or maybe how the majority of young women are viewed as nothing more than sex objects to be used and discarded after their useful purpose has been exhausted. Or maybe we can start with Hollywood and advertisers using younger and younger pre teen girls to sell products while scantily clothed. Maybe we can talk about how that portrayal of women as sex objects causes impressionable youths to engage in sex at ages earlier and earlier with every passing year. We could talk about how the over sexualization of our children is in part the catalyst for increasing numbers of under aged gang rapes and attacks against young girls on school buses and even in the classrooms in some public schools.

Yeah let's talk about. Where do you want to start?

BTW I supported her bid to remain in office. She did nothing wrong and the people that threw her out should be ashamed of themselves. From what I heard she was doing a bang up job... Tup:

Hell men have been trying to stay on top since Lucy took a hike down a water course in Kenya many millenia ago.
I personally believe if you got it flaunt it. Good for the birth rate and the species.
There is a book, "A Woman's Place is on Top" written by a member of a women's climbing team that tackled AnnaPurna in the 60's. Good book. One of them didn't survive the attempt. I don't mind a woman on top.

Typical FF. Now he thinks he's a woman and knows what women think and how they feel.

What a crock of crap. Young women are fully aware of what they're doing. They think getting guys to give up their hard earned money to look at girls bodies (that they aren't ashamed of BTW) is pretty amusing. It's people like you FF who put the label of "dirty" on it. They sure don't think of it as dirty. They think of YOU as dirty. The usually uptight, sexually dysfunctional men who love to say one thing on the one hand, while doing another with the other hand.

I know it's hard for you to focus on the subject matter without making asinine BS typically down right stupid personal remarks but if want to discuss the matters to which I laid out let's start. If all you want to do is spit out the typical ignorant blather than go F%^K yourself.

Ooohhh, there's some real intelligent banter! The fact is, you don't know jack about what women think or feel.

You talked about repecting women and treating them with decency, and yet you take the first opportunity you can to get rude, nasty and ugly with one who is outspoken and challenges your supposed knowledge.

You're a hypocritical jerk who probably just finished F%^King himself.

EEEWWWWW!!! That clever. You really got me there.. clown: The problem with you FS is you THINK you know what I think when in fact you don't know jack. What I write about is what I think not what I think women think. Get a clue. Now if you can focus let's try to concentrate on the subject matter. If you and others were actuall paying attention to what I wrote then this is one study that should educate the less intelectually affluent...Ethinicity is a factor as well. Read below.

New Findings Add Nuance to Discussion of Early Sex
Published: June 5, 2007

Girls who have sex at an early age are at slightly greater risk than their peers for feeling depressed, a new study has found. But their self-esteem suffers only if the sex occurs outside a romantic relationship.

For boys, having sex at an early age does not increase depression or decrease self-esteem.

“I suspected that there might be negative effects of early sex for some groups,â€? said Ann M. Meier, the study’s author and an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Minnesota. “And that’s what I found â€" but only under very specific circumstances.â€?

The findings, the authors say, may have relevance for the abstinence education provision of the welfare reform act of 1996. Programs that are financed through the legislation must teach, among other elements of abstinence, that “sexual activity outside of the context of marriage is likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects.

This study, which appears in the May issue of The American Journal of Sociology, found mixed evidence for that assertion.

The average age at which teenagers have their first sexual experience steadily decreased during the 1990s, according to background information in the paper, and now almost half of American adolescents report that they have had sex by the time they graduate from high school.

Using data from a nationally representative study, Dr. Meier selected 8,563 adolescents in grades 7 through 12 who had not had sex at the time of an initial interview. They were reinterviewed one to two years later, answering questions about their emotional and mental health, family background and education, and social and romantic relationships. They also responded to depression and self-esteem questionnaires. By the time of the second interview, 1,265 of the teenagers had had their first sexual experience.

The average age at first sex varied with ethnicity, from 15.2 years to 17.5, with blacks having sex at the youngest ages and Asians at the oldest. Lower family income also predicted sex at an earlier age.

Dr. Meier divided the group who had had sex into those whose first sex was earlier than that of other teenagers, those who had sex at the average age, and those who had sex later than average. The study considered only heterosexual intercourse, and the depression scale, which measured only depressive symptoms, was not designed to diagnose clinical depression.

First sex was associated with a decrease in self-esteem, but only among girls who were younger than the average age and not in a romantic relationship. Girls who had sex at the average age or later had no increased risk for depressive symptoms compared with those who had not had sex.

There was a significant increase in depressive symptoms among girls who were in short-term relationships that dissolved, and having had first sex in that relationship increased scores on the depression scale compared with girls in similar relationships that had ended without having sex.

Dr. Meier suggested that it was not so much chronological age that was significant in determining whether sex was psychologically harmful, but rather the deviation from the socially normal age.

Laura Lindberg, a sociologist and senior researcher at the Guttmacher Institute who was not involved in the study, found this particularly interesting....

Teen Exposure to Sex in Media Leads to Intercourse, Study Says
April 3 (Bloomberg) -- Adolescents who get a heavy diet of music, television, magazines and movies are more likely to have sex at the ages of 14 to 16 years than those who have minimal exposure, said a study published in the journal Pediatrics.

White 12- to 14-year-olds exposed to sex through the media were 2.2 times more likely to participate in early sexual activity than their peers who reported the lowest exposure to media, said the study in the April issue. Black teens, however, were more influenced by their parents' expectations and their friends' sexual behavior.

The study, in analyzing 170 songs, discovered 40 percent of the lyrics contained sexual content. Among the artists the adolescents listened to were Nelly, Ja Rule, Jay Z and Destiny's Child, said Jane Brown, chief researcher and a journalism professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

``In our analysis, movies and music were the most powerful influences,'' Brown said. ``The media they're using doesn't always show up on the Top 10 lists. Most of the kids are listening to rap.''

The other media, magazines and television, had about 11 percent sexual content, she said, adding ``The Simpsons'' was the most popular television show.

``The main thing we've done is look beyond television. It's not only television; other media affect sexual behavior,'' Brown said.

The researchers interviewed 1,017 black and white adolescents from 14 middle schools in central North Carolina. Each teen was evaluated at age 12 to 14 years, and once again two years later.

Five to Six Hours

Surveys cited by the study said white adolescents in the U.S. spent an average of five to six hours a day with some form of media that showed frequent, glamorized and consequence-free sexual activity and black youth spent even more time.

``Media is a powerful sex educator, but not always in the best interest of children,'' Brown said. ```Desperate Housewives' could use condoms. Why not? On reality programs, let's get real. People do use condoms. What's missing in the media are the three Cs. Rarely is there a commitment, contraceptives or consequences.''

While the media used by black youths had more sexual content than media used by whites, the influence was less, which was a surprising aspect of the study, Brown said. Researchers said if they had started the study of black adolescents, who were more mature than their white peers in the sample, at an earlier age, they may have found more impact from the media.

`Significant Predictor'

``Parents were a significant predictor,'' Brown said. ``If the teen knows what you think, your teen is less likely to have sex. Parents are more powerful for blacks. It may be because there is more talk about sexuality in the black culture. We all need to take more and healthier sexual information to teens.''

The authors said media literacy education for parents, and youth partnerships with youth-oriented media and physician education and intervention, provide opportunities to help reduce media's negative effects. The study is titled ``Sexy Media Matters: Exposure to Sexual Content in Music, Movies, Television, and Magazines, Predicts Black and White Adolescent Sexual Behavior.''

Nothing you just posted, including the above, has ANYTHING to do with this topic, OR the one introduced by Bruce.

Pretty sad that you have to try and introduce a separate topic. We're talking about ADULT women who are scantily clad, and we aren't talking about young girls having sex.

No wonder you get yourself into so much trouble around here. Your ability to reason or understand even simple concepts is impaired.

Study Finds Early Sex Linked to Teen Delinquency Which Can Last into Adulthood

COLUMBUS, Ohio, February 27, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Teens who start having sex significantly earlier than their peers also show higher rates of delinquency in later years, new research shows. A national study of more than 7,000 youth found that adolescents who had sex early showed a 20 percent increase in delinquent acts one year later compared to those whose first sexual experience occurred at the average age for their school.

In contrast, those teens who waited longer than average to have sex had delinquency rates 50 percent lower a year later compared to average teens. And those trends continued up to six years.

Stacy Armour, a doctoral student in sociology at Ohio State University, co-authored the study with Dana Haynie, associate professor of sociology at Ohio State . Their results appear in the February 2007 issue of the Journal of Youth and Adolescence.

The researchers used data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. An initial survey was conducted in 1994-95 of students from across the country in grades 7 to 12. These students attended 132 high schools and their "feeder" middle schools.

This study included students who reported they were virgins in this first survey. They were then surveyed again one year later, and a third time six years later in 2002.

In this study, the average age of sexual debut - age at first intercourse - was calculated for each school in the sample. "That way, the respondents in the study are compared to the peers in their own school, rather than an arbitrary age that is deemed the average age for everyone," Armour said.

The average age for sexual debut in this study ranged from 11.25 to 17.5 years of age, depending on the individual schools. Adolescents in the sample who had their first sexual encounter about one year or more before average for their school (the exact length differed for each school) were considered early.

To determine rates of delinquency, students in the survey were asked how often in the past year they participated in a variety of delinquent acts, including painting graffiti, deliberately damaging property, stealing, or selling drugs.

The study found that youth who had their sexual debut between the first and second surveys showed a 58 percent increase in delinquency compared to those who remained virgins. But the increases were more pronounced for those who were younger than their peers when they first had sex.

The researchers found that of those respondents who had their first sexual experience between the first and second surveys, 9 percent had started significantly earlier than their peers, 58 percent were average, and 33 percent experienced sexual intercourse significantly later than others.

The researchers took into account a variety of factors that could affect how long adolescents wait to have sex, including race, family structure, socioeconomic status, school performance, depression, how close the teens felt to their parents, and other factors.

The negative effects of early sex seem to last through adolescence and into early adulthood. When the same respondents were surveyed again in 2002 - when most were between the ages of 18 and 26 - results showed that the age of first sex was still associated with levels of delinquency.
