scouting report of Satsop

Well, i headed to the Satsop this morning. Before leaving, i checked the flow charts and it was sitting at 3200ish. Got there shortly after 11am and it was very very different from what i'd seen there before. Same basic holes but very fast water in general. Got a little too much drift and spent too much time reeling, mixed with the wet/snowy weather, I decided to call it a day at about 3pm. Vis on the East Fork was decent at 2-3'. Saw a couple sleds but didn't get to watch them long enough to see if they were hookin up, nor did i get a chance to talk to them. I don't think the steelies are in yet.

All day i was looking for a place to float a jig but couldn't find a decent spot so i'll be hittin up FG on the Green tomorrow morning.

So i went to Sportco and spent an hr or so lookin around. Ended up buyin some 30lb Power Pro for float fishing. That stuff's crazy. My Gerber scissors have a tough time cuttin it.

I heard that before this last bout of hi water some steelhead were being caught. i hope it doesnt let us down this year, i am counting on many trips there between now and march 31st. going to go down for the weekend on jan12th and fish for 3 days. hopefully i will be posting good reports......i got my first spool of braid for christmas and youre right, that stuff is crazy!, feels like it would be hard to use with a spinning reel?, or should i put it on my level wind?. :?
I fished the upper river thursday out of my drift boat and it was perfect except for the catching. The guys in one of the sleds had nothing, it seemed dead, there should be steelies in there and late coho.

I put it on my new Shimano spinning reel i got for Christmas. Works great and casts really well. It's 30 test but the equivelent diameter is 8 lb. Hook sets are amazing, just don't do it too hard or you'll end up with a hook in your eye. There's literally no stretch to it.
