I keep hearing the refrain that Obama has great speeches but has no substance. In less than a minute I was able to find faily detailed policy positions on his web site. if you really want to know what his positions on various topics is read here.

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

Or, if you prefer to have other think for you just keep parroting the remarks of his detractors.

BTW Both McCain and Clinton have similar web sites. Read and learn. It may help you make an informed decision.

The problem with Obama's "positions" is that we don't actually "know" if those are his positions or if he's pandering to your emotions. With McCain, we have a track record to go with his positions, and with Hillary we have plenty of history.

The only thing I can say for sure about Obama is that he will spend a lot of my tax dollars helping tweakers and welfare mom's to get even get more of my money.

We know damn well what his positions are. He's a frick'n Socialist and nearly every bill he sponsored or co-sponsored in the Illinois Senate was one that grew Government, grew governmental authority and increased dependency ON government through economic equality and wealth re-distribution. Get real. I know the left has gone off the deep end but good god people Socialism? I miss the times when the left wasn't so damn proud of their positions and claimed to be centrists or moderates. Now, there's no shame in being a friggin loon....

The only position Obama has is that he plans to tax the corportations and the top income earners to level the playing field for the "hard working Americans".

Here's one of Obama's positions: light:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barack Obama's proposed $845 BILLION DOLLAR TAX INCREA$E

Feb 12, 2008

A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act,"sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations. Tdown:

Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama’s “Global Poverty Act (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product  on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion   over and above what the U.S. already spends.
Tdown: Tdown:. the urgency of the project so she can effectively raise their taxes over 520 just like she did with the Viaduct . However, while we'll be paying higher taxes all the while--by the time she gets around to actually getting something done the Earth's Continental Plates will have moved so far that the next bridge we'll need will probably be to Hawaii.Tdown:

This exorbitant toll she's proposing on 520, I-90 and around the North end of the Lake is going to hurt Business' in Seattle, Lake Forest Park , Kenmore and Bellevue and would be a financial hardship for many families and seems excessive and unrealistic for a project that doesn't even have a finalized plan or start date. Tdown:

What Gregoire doesn't realize is this $12-$14 per day toll would just force thousands more commuters on to I-5 and 405 to go the long way(s) around the Lake to avoid having to pay the approximately $300 per month tax just to get to and from their jobs. She wants to charge working class families that are already pinched by sky high gas and food prices with yet another HUGE regressive tax increase. What this will do in effect to only worsen our congestion problems (considerably) because many more people will be forced on to the already bogged down areas of I-5 and 405 at peak times because their families simply can't afford another $300+ a month in their transpiration budget. Tdown:

The lack of effective leadership and action on the Viaduct and 520 is her Achilles Heal.
light:

He needs to remind King County voters (Comrade Gregoire's voting block) that she has 'Jumped the Shark' on this one. If Rossi can come up with a timely cost effective plan(s) that will actually get something done he w

Obama also wants to change the way earmarks are handled. He thinks you should disclose earmarks and has done so. He has still tagged on some $90 million of his own earmarks and been on the band wagon for some $350 billion. So I suppose opening the kimono on them is change.

IBCNUL8R,

Let's try this again......The $845 BILLION DOLLAR$ is, "OVER AND ABOVE" what we already spend. light:

That means it is...IN ADDITION TO, NEW, MORE, ON TOP OF... IE, AN INCREASE to our existing generous spending on forein aid. This at a time when our country is already on its way to going bankrupt from fixed budgetary entitlement spending-- Barack wants to commit/mandate almost .7% of our countries GDP....to other countries? Even worse this spending would be subservient to the dictates of the United Nations. Tdown: That means that we (the United States tax payers funding the 845 BILLION dollars) wouldn't even decide where the money goes. The United Nations which is corrupt, wrought with fraud and run by socialists would decide where and how the money is earmarked---these are the same people that put together the UN Oil for Food scam that made BILLIONS of dollars for corrupt members by denying food and medicine to Iraqi children. Tdown: Tdown: Tdown:

Are these the people (the corrupt United Nations) who you want to give and entrust nearly one TRILLION of American tax payer dollar$ to?

Is that Barack Obama's change you're so eager to see implemented :?:

I find it very interesting that a man who lacked the conviction required to do the job he was elected to in the Illinois State Senate by his constituents, and voted "present" 130 times instead of yes or no suddenly has the fortitude to make tough decision with the fate of the entire county during a time of economic difficulty, and a war on terrorism. I am sorry but, right or wrong at least George Bush stands by his convictions!!
