I'm going to take the boat down to Rockaway Beach, OR at the end of June and wondered if anyone can tell me how to fish the Springers in Nehalem and Tillamook Bays? I'm also interested in crabbing, anyone have experience down there?

Thanks!

I have fished the Nehalem many times in the past. My father has a small mobile in this RV park - http://nehalemshores.com/

I never fished for springers there though. I have though for the fall kings (I am the guy on the left on their web page).
We usually pulled home made spinners or herring. We fished mostly from the RV park down to Wheeler. Unfortunately, I haven't fished down there much lately. You can contact Jim at the Wheeler Marina and he may have more info. Here is there website

good luck !!

I fished the Trask with my cousin who is a manager at Fisherman's Marine last year. He used to be a guide back in the 80's. We didn't fish the bay proper, but stayed up river in the tidewater using float and eggs for big kings. Give the guys at Fisherman's a call, and they can help you out.

There is no spring run on the Nehalem. The summer run gets going around August, although you can catch some early returners in late July if you hit it really hard. As for Tillamook, I've heard there is a spring run, but I am not 100% certain and I definitely wouldn't know how to target them. Ask me about Fall run though and I can be of some help!

I just spoke to my dad. If you like to catch and release native steel, head on down. Not much else happening on the Nehalem.
