Chicken Little and "Echochondriacs"

One day Chicken Little was walking in the woods when -- KERPLUNK -- an Enviro-Nut fell on her head.

"Oh my goodness!" said Chicken Little. "The sky is falling! I must go and tell President Bush."

On her way to the White House, Chicken Little met Nervous Nelly.
Nervous Nelly said that she was going into the woods to hunt for worms.
"Oh no, don't go!" said Chicken Little. "I was there and the sky fell on my head!
Come with me to tell President Bush."

So Nervous Nelly joined Chicken Little and they went along and went along as fast as they could.

Soon they met Crotchety Bobby, who said, "I'm going to the woods to hunt for seeds."
"Oh no, don't go!" said Nervous Nelly. "The sky is falling there!
Come with us to tell President Bush."

So Crotchety Bobby joined Nervous Nelly and Chicken Little, and they went along and went along as fast as they could.

Soon they met Lucy Goosey, who was planning to go to the woods to look for berries.

"Oh no, don't go!" said Crotchety Bobby. "The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell President Bush." So Lucy Goosey joined Crotchety Bobby, Nervous Nelly and Chicken Little, and they went along as fast as they could.

Then who should appear on the path but sly old Owl Gore
"Where are you going, my fine feathered friends?" asked Owl Gore.
He spoke in a polite manner, so as not to frighten them.

"The sky is falling!" cried Chicken Little. "We must tell President Bush."
"I know a shortcut to the White House," said Owl Gore sweetly. "Come and follow me."

But wicked Owl Gore did not lead the others to the Oval Office. He led them right up to the entrance of his Carbon Trading Pit. Once they were inside, Owl Gore was planning to turn them into Liquid CO2!

Just as Chicken Little and the others were about to go into the Owl's pit, they heard a strange sound and stopped.

It was President Bush's Special Hunting Dogs, growling and howling.

How Owl Gore hustled his fat butt, across the meadows and through the forests, with the hounds close behind.

He ran until he was far, far away and never dared to come back again.

After that day, Chicken Little always carried an umbrella with her when she walked in the woods.

The umbrella was a present from President Bush to protect Chicken Little From any Enviro-Nuts falling from Green-Trees.

And if -- KERPLUNK -- an Enviro-Nut fell, Chicken Little didn't mind a bit.
In fact, she didn't notice it at all.

 - The End -

Stupid damn scientists. I would much rather believe a crackpot who doesn't believe in evolution, global warming or the earth revolving around the sun, than bunch of damn climate scientists. What do they know anyway. just a bunch of facts.

Let me give you a fact Wam. The globe has been warming for many years and there's not a dang thing that mankind can do to stop it. Quit with the fear and get out your sunscreen because good things are coming our way.

Let me apprise you of the Scientific Process Wham Bam. The scientists run around and gather a lot of data. Then they publish a report based on the data. (that's how they get funded by the taxpayer) With replenished grants they get some more data and formulate a theory. The media makes sure the public assimilates the scientifically derived theory. This releases an enviro-nut fall like you cannot imagine. Some smart snake oil salesman realizes that he can reap a bunch of capital and influence by jumping on the incipient disaster alleged by the theorists. He does.

None of our Atmospheric Scientists have a data log of satisfactory duration to make serious predictions. They can speculate all they want and do. Some realize it is speculation and enjoy the process, it is interesting. Others see profit in the scare factor and enjoy the process.

An inch of new snow this morning in Spokane. More evidence of global warming.

+1 That explains it plainly, ...A whole industry grows up around the problem.. the GW industry is a prime example.. the lahar inustry ( in the Puyallup valley) is another one, they get some California hot tub Gomers (thanks Ted) to study & declare a looming disaster, then the press gladly goes to work to glorify the impending doom & scare the populace. Careers are made & tens of millions of dollars spent to find the cure...I love America!

It reminds me of our other growing industry called Salmon Recovery. Billions will be spent and lots of greenies will make a killing, but not much recovery will be accomplished. If we actually recovered the populations or just declared them extinct, the gravy train would end. Can't have that.

Neat scam, huh?

Ya know guys, we only have one earth to live on. Once it gets f-ed up, theres not much we can do to fix it. Alot of the practices that are supposed to help allieviate global warming will be good for us regardless of it global warming is real or not. I believe it is real, as it is no longer a theory. It is taught in highschool, and college. Its in text books and scientific journals. Yes it is true that the earth's temp is constantly cycling, but the up swing we are on now is already greater then any other documented by scientists. Another interesting point about this is that the upswing we are on now coincides perfectly with the industrial revolution. For all you knuckle draggers out there the industrial revolution occured in the 1800's. Just my 2 cents, I'm sure some of you will continue to deny global warming even when it's 70 degrees in winter in Seattle.

I got no problem with the concept of global warming. Hell many centuries ago the Earth went thru a period of sariation. Many species died. Oceans became deserts and so on. And then another Ice Age came along. The land bridge to Asia is alleged to have popped up out of the ocean. I love it. All possible and interesting to boot.
The fact that something is taught in grade school or college is no validation of reality. Did you ever hear of the dumbing of America? Did you ever hear of the 100 Classics that used to be required reading for a college kid?
I do believe our version of civilization is toxic to many of the creatures on the planet including us. We need to seriously have a go at fixing things. I personally do not believe CO2 is the problem. Our life style is the problem. I hope all you youngers out there figure out how to fix it without killing off 3/4 of the population.

I'm hoping they don't. I'm hoping the planet won't be so over run with the human species and I'm hoping I'm not around to see it happen if it does. If only 1/4 remained, the planet might have a chance.

I ABSOLUTELY believe that man-made CO2 emissions are helping to expedite 'Global Warming' (Global climate change) Tup:

I DO NOT believe that bullsh!t schemes like selling carbon credits will help. Tdown:

At some point we're gonna HAVE to do SOMETHING... and by that I mean the whole world's human population... or else Mother Nature may just take back her planet and the human species will just be a footnote in saga of geologic time. :?

What makes you think that we won't be a footnote whether or not we do something? It's quite possible that we could (over "geological time") go the way of the Saber tooth and Mastodons......those dudes must have driven some real gas guzzlers wink:

Bah-hum-bug. Wip'n your butt with less toilet paper will only leave more so Liberals can dry their tears.

The scientific method required to conclude man made global warming doesn't exist. It cannot exist. It is impossible.

All the opinions declaring this theory a fact is based on speculation plain and simple. In order for a conclusive result to be reached the scientific method must contain all it's components.

1. The question/The problem
2. Make an observation
3. Form a hypothesis
4. An experiment
5. Draw a conclusion and report results.

And as such no scientist can perform an experiment to scale necessary to form a conclusion.

NO No Ff. We have a plethora of conclusions. Just very little valid corroborative evidence. Too short an observation span. Not enough data points if you will. Beyond that one can believe any damn thing that comforts the seat of ones pants.
I can just say, 'I don't know.' Hell it's easy, the more you learn the more you realize how little you know.

Ohhh... I'm sure that we (mankind) will eventually go... but WHY speed up the inevitable? Why not preserve at least the most intelligent members of our species long enough to develop the technology for interstellar travel and colonization? conf:

That way conservatives will have more than just one planet to phukk up!

ff - There are many theories out there that have as yet to be proven fact... but all of the available evidence strongly suggests a high probability that they are.

Evolution

General Relativity

Quantum Mechanics

Just to name a few.

Why would you care Webo?
'Cause that's the kinda guy I am! :D
