I am looking to book a trip in February if possible. I want a talkative guide that uses a drift boat and side drifts, possibly a sled. Also stops and gets out to drift fish. I am looking to gain some much needed experience in reading the river, learning the touch of drift fishing and catching some steelhead. I need a guide that does not mind sharing techniques and secrets with beginners. I will go to the Olympic Pennisula or fish the Northern rivers like Skykomish of Skagit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you want to go in February... I'd definitely choose the OP over the Sky or Skagit. Mid March through April though... it's a tossup.

Most of the good OP guides will probably be booked already... but you might be able to get a cancellation.

Google Olympic Peninsula guides association and you should be able to get a complete list.

If you wanted to fish the Cowlitz, Wynoochee etc... Dr. Hook's suggestions are tough to beat.

I here alot of good things about Phil, and Eli, but have not fished with them. I have fished with Jim Stahle of J & J Guide Service and he is a great guide. He has givin me alot of tips while fishing with him and is also kind enough to give me words of advice when I see him while fishing in my dads sled.

Since I wont be guiding on the Skagit and Sky and moved to SW WA to guide on those rivers I can't recomend myself butttt...IF I were looking to fish either of those places I would call, Rob Endsley http://www.pacific-northwest-sportfishing.com on the Skagit, or Bob Kratzer on the Oly Pen http://www.anglersguideservice.com you would be hard pressed to find two fishyer guides in this state and to boot they are awesome dudes! good luck with whoever you go with
