Hey all,

I need some help everyone. The Lake Stevens Kokanee Derby is Saturday May 19 this year. I approached the folks in charge of the event and made a proposal. Give as many wounded vets as we can get to the event free registration, and give them each a prize. Hopefully we can give them each a rod/reel combo and a gear kit to get them started fishing on their own (they are stationed at JBLM and have base access to American Lake, so they can use it). Here's the catch though.

We need to provide boat seats and fishing gear that day for these wounded guys and gals at Lake Stevens. It would also be nice if you could provide some eats and drinks if possible. The state gives them a free fishing license so that is taken care of. The base will provide transportation for them to and from Lake Stevens.

Please PM me on this board if you can provide a boat seat and fishing gear for our vets. You will still need to pay your registration if you plan on being part of the derby.

The drop-dead cutoff for letting me know how many seats we can provide is May 4th. It takes two weeks for them to get doctor visits etc. scheduled around an event and to get transportation lined up.

I have taken one wounded warrior fishing, and am taking out two more tomorrow, and let me tell you there aren't many things you can do in this world that will mean more to someone.

Anyway, let's see what we can do to make this event special for the guys and gals that paid the price for serving their country.

If anyone has open seats for the derby, please consider taking part in this.

I can tell you that there is no better feeling then being able to help someone get out on the water and fish.

PM Hooksetter for more information...............
