I am going to Cancun next week and would like to do some bonefishing on the flats. Have any of you ever been there and fished? Can anyone recommend a good guide company? Specifics? Any help would be appreciated!
It's been 3 years, but I want to go back. An hour south of Cancun is Tulum, a nice small town, good restaurants, and many places to stay on the peninsula that heads out to Boca Paila. There are a couple resorts out at the end of the road and peninsula with guides and boats. They're on the web. Also there is a spot or two, especially if you have any kind of floating device to cross a lagoon, and you can wade the flats for a couple miles or so. Lots of small bonefish and some smaller permit, also saw and tried for a 3' barracuda, but he just swam away.
It's a way cool place, for the fishing, eating, drinking, the ruins, the European women's one-piece swim suits, etc.
