Nice win tonight for Senator McCain.

I agree that he did well.

He sacked away 57 winner-take-all points... And took them by a decent margin.

All he needs is 1094 more and he gets the nomination.

Plus they are saying that Rudy is going to back him now that he is dropping.

If McCain gets the nomination he will get my vote, being that he is on the moderate side of liberal and actually conservative compared to anything the Democrats have at this point, but I have doubts that he can mobilize the conservative base.

I still hope and expect that Romney will take the prize. He needs 1117 more delegates to win.
And more importantly... He probably has the best chance to beat the beast. Tup:

Looks like Edwards is going to pull out as well. Obama and Hillary on the Dem side. McCain and Romney on the GOP. And don't forget Huckabee. It sure sounded like McCain was offering the VP slot to Huckabee in his victory speech last night. I don't know if that will be enough to have the conservatives accept McCain and get them energized. From my perspective I can't understand the near unaminous panning of McCain by the conservative media. They really don't like him. I would love to see the GOP not go to the far right this time. I think I could live with a McCain presidency however I will probably vote for the other side this time around. I refuse to reward the GOP for their abysmal performance over the last 6 - 8 years by voting for them.

McCain is what he is. A moderate one day. A liberal the next. A conservative when need be. I'll support him as the nominee but would prefer Romney.

The conservative base has handed McCain the three strikes and your out rule.

STRIKE ONE! McCain Feingold.
STRIKE TWO! Gang of 14 Collaboration.
STRIKE THREE! Amnesty for illegals.

Not to mention NOT supporting the tax cuts and other mistakes that make him too liberal...

We'll get behind him to beat the Liberal Democrats any day. Who says the GOP isn't forgiving????

You're too kind Ff. I couldn't get past no. one on your list. If I had to choose twixt Obama/McCain or billary/McCain I would vote for McCain. But I would be irritated that we couldn't field a better candidate. One modifier of the possibilitie would be McCains running mate.
The Democrats are busy shooting themselves in the foot. Even tho that will get them the votes of the eddies out there. After all the chances to wield power have dried up they can only blame themselves for the abyss their legislative attempts have excavated.

You right-wing extremists should just NOT vote this year. I mean why not? McCain is a liberal, Obama and Hillary are liberals, Romney is a social liberal...

One way or another... you guys would be votin' for a LIBERAL! gasp! choke! cough!

So... stay home on the first Tuesday in November... crack open your favorite bottle of Scotch... and drown yer sorrows! Tup:

A liberal WILL be elected President this year... and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it!

Did you manage to catch any of the specific numbers from... say the Florida primary DB?

McCain won with 650,000 something votes and the TOTAL amount of Republican voters that turned out was maybe 1 million or so.

Obama got 600,000 something votes and came in second to Hillary's almost 900,000!

Almost 2 million Democratic voters turned out in total... and the total amounts so far in each primary and caucus has been FAR higher for the Democrats than the Republicans.

Face it... the Dems are MOTIVATED this year and are turnin' out.

A good majority of Republicans don't even like McCain... as evidenced here on the board.

It's gonna take every ounce of good ol' fashioned Christian conservative motivational hatred the Republicans can muster towards a black Man or a woman just to keep this from being the biggest party landslide victory for the Democrats in U.S. HISTORY!

It's ALL OVER but the cryin'... and the conservative faction is gonna be doin' a whole lot o' that...

...whinin' and blamin' too! :D :D

The numbers of voters in the primaries doesn't really mean much Webo. Way more people vote in the general as I'm sure you are aware. You are talking about 1.5 million Democrat supporters participating in the primary election. There are over 18 million people in Florida, so even the large number of democrats you site are just a very small drop in the bucket. Only thing those numbers tell me is that there are more left wing nuts then right wing nuts.

Crap I say. If I had no kids and grandkids I would not give an RA. Let the socialists have the country, Obama, Billary, pick your crook. The liberals deserve what they get. But then I do have decendants and I cannot just sit passively by while the water closet crowd flushes the country down the drain. I cannot do much but I will do what I can to defeat the fakirs out there.

ps Divider, your cheerleader has not been heard from for some time. Is she all right? Hope she is well and doing fine.

Yah know, 3 weeks ago some people in the know (not here) were stating that the Republicans had a big problem because there were so many candidates with a possibility of winning that it could go all the way to the convention and fracture the party. Well, 3 weeks later it looks like there are really only 2 candidates for the Repubs and McCain has a very solid position going into next Tuesday with Gulianni dropping out today. Conversely, the Dem side is a two horse race that is too close to call right now but it could be the one to remain tight all the way to the convention. What a difference a couple of weeks makes.

Yep the GOP does have more viable promising choices whereas on the other side you've got a newby green behind the ears and a old throwback to days better left in the past...

DBA over here we say a week is a long time in politics.

Welcome back Div, I like your avatar. Come on Righties at least give him top marks for that one. ;)

I said before all the voting started that I hoped that you would not chose another person who put religion before country. Looks like this is going to happen now. If McCain comes out on top after Tuesday the only thing I am worried about is his age.

The turnout between Dems and Reps in Florida was discussed over here as well. What was said is that the Dems seem more motivated to turn out this year. When Tony Blair took power from the Cons, more folk turned out to vote than had turned out for many a year. If the people want change they will turn out in their droves to make this happen. We see this all over the World. Can somebody check the numbers who turned out at your last election when the Dems won so many seats and see if what I have said is true.

I hope everybody here turns out to vote even if their man/woman does not get in, that is what democracy is all about.

You are just an old sourpuss Jabba, because it looks like your man will not get in.
No sir john. What he is saying is that in our last big election the democratic governor of our state won because she had dead people and felons (who are not supposed to be able to vote) casting ballots for her. In our state there are many that follow the Stalin rule.
