So.. me and a couple of guys are considering doing a 2 or 3 day float and fish trip for small mouth and whatever else… on the John Day River.

What I am wondering is have any of you done this? What would you advise as a good long-weekend trip? Start Stop? When

I have a 14 foot super puma raft with a rowing frame…

This used to be a yearly trip for the boyz, usually there towards summer time, nothing but spectacular scenery and plenty of aggressive smallys. 3 inch craws were the ticket, but multiple stuff works. One of the best trips down there it got a little rainy on us and somebody tied on a top water popper and the action never stopped. Service creek to cottonwood is a great float we took 5-6 days but you could bust it out in 3 for sure. So in my book it is highly recommended, good luck dont forget your skillet and beer batter so you can enjoy some of the best tasting fish around when you are there.
