Hey guy i got this knife as a gift from a lady friend who works for this company. She is just a receptionist, but gets gifts from time to time, and she got this. So she gave it to me! I was just wondering if anyone had any reviews on this knife. It retails for around 80 bucks, so im wondering what to expect. Thanks guys and gals for all your opinion.

On a side note, any way someone could make a tutorial on sharpening a knife? Ive never done it before and id like to see how its done.

Mine is the extendable one too! i figured that out like 10 mins after i was messing with it. I might have to go hit a local lake and get a trout or two to try it out ;)

I have an old style one -- had it for probably 15 years. It isn't an extendable one, has the standard Cutco handle, not the no-slip rubber/plastic on the new one. It has the etched jumping trout/fly line/pool ripples dealy on the upper blade.

This thing holds an edge longer and gets sharper than anything I have ever owned. It is an awesome knife.

I got introduced to Cutco back in the mid 1970s, I bought the camping/hunting knife back then. Still have it.

Awesome. Just snapped the blade on mine last week, going to send it in for a new one. Best fillet knife I've ever used. Period.

Thanks guys for all the imput! I'm shocked someone hasn't told me to go catch a fish and try it out! That's this weekend!

Steve, how much for a replacement blade? Is yours the extendable model as well? Does it come with some sort of warranty?

they generally are half price of retail, so around 40 bucks or so for the Fishermans Solution knife... is yours the one that has the sheath with the pliar clamp grip on the end, the line cutter slot cut out of the side to expose the blade, and the hook sharpening stone on the back of it?

You will love it! I won one at the derby a few years back. Almost gave it away as I had never heard of the brand. Now glad I gave away the other one. Tup:

My brother has the Cutco adjustable Fillet knife and that thing really holds an edge. We used it for two seasons of Salmon fishing, but it dulled on us up in Canada on our first Pike:lol: I now fillet Pike using the five cut way and wouldn't have that problem anymore. The cutco can be 4"-9" long.

I personally just have some $14 fillet knife that's been fine for my uses. I don't even know the brand.
