Heading to the Cathlamet for the first time the 1st week of April in hope of some Springers and Sturgeon. I have never fished this area before and was hoping to get some info on this fishery from anyone who has been before. Is this a standard k-15 / Spinner from hog lines fishery?

K-15"s on the out going. Troll herring on the incoming.

Watch the water temp this time of year in the area you are fishing. It will change from spot to spot and depth to depth. Fish the warmest area you find this time of year. it only has to be a single degree higher or more. Herring, kwikies and flatfish all work. Good Luck.

Is it legal or productive to use smelt? I have a surplus. Anyone tried??

Last day of the season last year , hooked 6 fish, landed 4 . the other 2 threw hooks at the boat! Got to set them hooks when they hit!
