Between the last two days, we had 2 fish hooked yesterday and 1 today. Crazy part was one fish yesterday was a kelp?? (Already dropped the eggs but still chrome??). So for roughly 34 man hours of fishing, only 3 fish. Not so good. I think the Cascade is pretty much done for the season. Now it's time to focus all my efforts on the mighty Sauk in search of a trophy 20lber. Maybe a few more days on the Vedder too. Then onto to springers!!! The fishing never ends!!!

Mitch,

Hatchery steelhead are programed to run early and spawn early. It's pretty common for females to be totally chrome and dropping eggs. The males usually color up first though.

Kelts = fish that have already spawned. They wouldn't have eggs left to drop. Late hatchery fish will be "ripe" and spill eggs once they get their eyes crossed.
