Tried to get into the car body and failed. Just as I predicted awhile back you can not get past the new channel cut into the bank with out chest waders or neoprene's . Gage height was at 55.76 at 12:456 PM, (1920 cfm). This isn't even what I'd call high water and King county has essentially cut off one of the better fishing spots with this project for a majority of fishermen. (I can hear the reply's saying, "So go by neoprene's or chest waders now). But that is not the point. Point is they should have consulted the fishermen when considering this project and they did not

Its really not that bad. The water in the channel is not deep at all, it would be easy to cross in even hip boots, you don't need chest waders. I think the side channel will help to give an area of refuge for smolts during high water. Plus I like the hole out in front a little better now too. Part of the fun is exploring the river for yourself anyway. There is some great water up above car body too :D

the kid2 where you wearing hip boots if you where the water was probably to deep I was in there last weekend and it was up to my crotch. There is always the log you can walk across ( just kidding ) it looks like an accident waiting to happen. Someone falls crossing it and then sues the state for not having a hand rail on it. In the crossing area there are stepping stones that you can see if the water is not to muddy I usually stay to the right of them so I don't trip over them.

How did the water look today?

Well that is not exactly true VS.l12 I tried the channel at many places, including those ridiculous stepping stones they put in there and even walking up it about 50 or 60 yards or so and it was still to deep for hip waders, and I would have had to have on chest waders. Many, many that I have spoken with have commented on how this hole will only be a shadow of its former self.

Build a trail around it. if you dont like it. It wouldnt be that hard. long long time ago you could go to the corner hole w/o walking to where that cut in starts. we just have to deal with it and its not that bad. and you can walk around it

Hey kid2 is that all you do is complain about things????
I've been reading several blogs on this web site and all you do is complain!!!
Do you ever have anything positive to say?? Like the reason they cut that ditch was to protect our fish!!! You've also complained about how that area was too snaggy for you to drift fish, why don't you buy some damn waders or go somewhere else!!!

I understand the issue with access, but I feel that the channel will do more good for the river than without it. I am willing to buy chest waders and wade across or like others said, next time just bring along a plank of plywood or something and lay it across. That should not deter people from fishing....furthermore, I have to believe that the project was initiated by smart people with the health of the river in mind, therefore any project facilitated with the goal of restoring the Green to even a shadow of its former self is A-OKAY with me.

Or build a dam with rocks. Tup:
I wouldn't do that. Kind of defeats the purpose of the channel then (cutting it off)

I'd be interested in seeing how many lil fish use that side channel, and are smart enough to escape before the river drops while they can still escape conf: . Besides this area is not just a fishing area, it used to be used by alot of people that enjoyed walking and some with their dogs. I mentioned it to the Hydrologist when they started this project and he just shrugged it off, a bridge would have added to the expense and he didn't seemed concerned about the other users of the area. Nice to see that some yahoo's dragged that picnic table out there half way under water, thats right they wanted more wood in the water  , the other one is upside down by the big logs. And I'd say close to 50% of those damn sap sticks they stuck in the modified bar are gone
