My niece with her first trout. Caught at the Sportsman's Show, using merely corn and a fancy bamboo rod, no reel (now that is old school!). It must be the lucky Elmo shirt!!! It's what we all feel when we hook that big fish and hear that drag buzz, caught in a 3 year olds' eyes. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to hug a steelhead

Might never win a contest but this fish is important to me.

I could have chosen bigger fish but this is the first to get entered on my tag.

Picture taken on November 12, 2007 after a day of fishing with my buddy who has never gone fishing before. what a great day it was for him. he nearly limited out. also, most fishermen dont give the respect the chum deserves as a species of salmon, so all the silvers are below the chum looking up to it who has the sportlight for the picture.

8-9 Pound Fly Caught (7wt rod and reel) Coho from Puyallup River 11/12/07. Camera phone picture. Fish put up a hell of a fight, put me into my backing two times and put on an aerial show. Fish was released after photo.

Here's my 30 pounder from this past August. It was caught at Pt. Defiance, just off Owens beach, at O'dark thirty. It is my biggest Salmon yet.

Since this is a photo contest I figured I should name the photo. I'm going with...

August chrome sparkles in the early morning darkness...

At the FLW National Guard Columbia River bass tournament held at TriCities in September, Washington Army National Guard members helped organize and provide the logistics for the tournament. At the conclusion of the tournament, I volunteered to take an Army National Guard soldier out for his first smallmouth bass fishing trip. I took him to a bridge piling and as I was showing him how to fish a dropshot rig, I felt a tap and set the hook. Instantly by the strong head shakes I knew it was a big smallmouth! I handed the rod to Major Scott Nelson (Lacey, WA) and offered the usual advice how to fight the fish on 6-pound test line. He did a great job, and after a lot of give and take, I slipped the net under a fat 5.2 pound smallmouth!

This day was easily the highlight of my year. Were it not for the Major Nelson's of our country we would not have the freedom to enjoy our favorite pastime, and to be honored to bring a smile to this soldier's face is a day I will never forget!! Tup:

This is from the September Youth Hunt.
My son and our pup, a successful FIRST Hunt for both. For those that can appreciate the finer points in the picture.
First, safety- the gun is open.
Second, the leash is loose as the pup is walking at ease, like he should. But not normal for a 8-month old pup.
Third, a full vest!
