After a Full Day of Fishing in the Summer heat on West Medical Lake, my Mom and Dad arrived back at the Boat Launch, Skunked!
They both were surprised when a couple of Soldiers who were also leaving the Lake at the same time, offered to give them their own stringer of beautiful Trout.
Oh, No! They exclaimed, we couldn't do that after you worked so hard to catch them!
But they insisted, and Mom and Dad gratefully headed home, looking forward to a fresh Trout Dinner.
It wasn't until they had Fried up a Batch of them and were sitting down to Supper when they realized why the Soldiers had been so eager to hand them over to them.
Never in all the years fishing in Minnesota had the ever eaten such "Muddy" tasting fish!
The Soldiers must have laughed all the way back to their own Barracks, just thinking of those Rookie Fishermen from the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" taking their first bite out of those West Medical Lake, Summer caught Trout View attachment 42486 ...

I still believe there are Crappie in Lake Fenwick. Even though they are not listed.
WDFW said Lake Holms up by Green River College had the same thing (No Crappie). That was until I tossed a Small Silver Rapala where there was a ripple inside a brush pile and Pow! Two 14 inch Spawning Crappie on the hook!

sounds like you had fun action. I use heavier weight....surf action dictates that. Those gulp worms are great.....last a lot longer than clam necks. I use a 50 lb braid (or something close to that).....zero concerns and cuts through the waves better. I'm sure you've heard of PK Yi on youtube...awesome videos. I've also sworn myself to not using a high end reel at the beach....one time in the sand/salt,,,,it's toast.

The fishing is really starting to turn on for bass. Have had most luck in the section on the map with swimjigs and ChatterBaits.
