Hit the Cow today at the I-5 launch. Fished from 6:30am to 3:30pm
and didn't hit a single fish. A couple of guys headed back to the
launch had 2 springers landed, and that was it. No fish from any
other boaters. Also from local reports a few summer runs are
starting to show!
Boy we find the silver spot of all times you guys will not believe it. We walking out about 9.30am mad as a bobcat in a phone booth no fish wet and cold the rivers just to high to fish blue creek. On the way out my son Christian spotted fish flashing next to the Y hole(all you locals and boaters know what I'am talking about) Man I'am glad I took Christian It was so many "BIG COHO" in this hole It was unbelievable. We caught fish (NO LIE) up to 22lbs. Way to go cowlitz and way to go to my 12 year older Christian Sampson
Went down to the Cowlitz today around 6:00am to 3m caught 2 nice 30" Stealhead and a Nice 15" cutthroat saw alot jump and the other anglers by me caught there daily limits for today. had another one on by couldnt get it in!
Floated the Cowlitz today from Blue Creek to Mission Hole. Stuck 3 Steelhead... 2 Summer Runs, and 1 Winter Run. These fish were caught in the tail-out below Blue Creek drifting eggs. Very little boat pressure.
From Blue Creek to Mission Bar...4 Steelhead to the box, 3 Winter Runs and 1 Summer Run. My group was using drift gear either with scent or fresh Roe. Good luck.
Fished the Cowlitz yesterday. We worked the water from Barrier all the way down to just ablove Mission. Hooked lots of boot kings, whitefish, suckers, and 4 steelies(3 winter -1 Summer) one of which made it to the net. A small summer run of about 4 lbs. The Steelhead were caught on Roe, Nightcrawlers, and Sandshrimp. The lighter the leader the more we hooked.
Cow is getting its winter run...Lots being nailed off the bank slot as usuall when the fish are in...Went 12/02/04 and the preasure was pretty strong.V
Fished the Cowlitz today with John from Fishin' with John Guide Service and a buddy Reinhold. We hooked numerous Steelies. I crackered 3 and John put on a clinic hooking and landing one after another. Best part was we had the run to ourselves. We ended up only keeping 1 winter run fish that Reinhold caught and wanted for the dinner table. Still lots of summer fish in there and more and more winters moving in.
Fished at toledo in the morning river in good shape, no bites, fished below the toutle, river a little muddy but was getting clearer no bites myself but guy next to me got a good sized springer and had two other bites all after 2pm sand shrimp and orange tiger spin glow with black wings
Fished Barrier today, saw 3 steelies hooked. One guy landed a big native springer, and my girl hooked and lost a big springer. All fish were hooked between 9:00 10:30 when it started raining.
Fished Blue Creek early. Got there at about 530am and my buddy hooked and landed an 8lb. hatchery summer-run at about 6am. One other fish hooked about 7am by someone on the point. Didn't land it. Later at about 3pm another friend hooked two and landed one which was 12lb summer-run. I got skunked, but there already starting to show. I'll definitely be back down there soon. It's only gonna get better.
Today went to the Blue Creek, caught 3 summer run steelhead around 8am, ranging from 12pds - 18pds 30+ inches. my fishing buddy caught 2 summer runs ranging about the same size and weight, using black and pink small corkies, and black yarn, w/ orange smelly jelly, fishing has been good for the last couple of weeks. going back next week.
Fished the Cowlitz on Saturday, 3 of my buddies landed 1 summer run steelie each ranging in size 6-10lbs. I caught the 4th about 7lbs. All were 25+ inches just south of Toledo. There in finally!!
Put in at I5 and fishied from sunrise to 2:30, VERY SLOW, went 3 for 4. 7# 8# and A 13#..........shure is better then being at work, unless your a guide of course!!!!!
We launched at the I-5 launch and fished about 10 hours. Had a couple good hits, one fish that broke off and one nice fish in the boat, boondoggin' eggs. Didn't see many other boats with fish or many sighted fish either. Catching was slow but the fishing was great!
FIshed the Cowlitz this weekend and landed a couple realllly nice trout. This time of year just gets my hair standing on end with the amount and size of these gorgeous trout. Night crawlers and Blue Fox #2 #3 chartruese and rainbow trout. Keep those lines tight!!
They're here.....Friday the 29th everyone on the bank had one on, 3 landed. Including my boyfriends 14 pounder. Word travles fast, on Sunday there were about 20+ guys there and 1 girl (me). Half the guys had one on and 3 were landed. I caught a flashy 9 pounder. It was a beautiful fish. All hatchery. Peach spin&glow with a shrimp tail on a 5 foot leader. You know where I'll be spending the rest of my summer....
Well , I finally found a river that was full of salmon, little pressure, and not blowned. Today was an awesome day for salmon fishing on the cowlitz. We hooked into some nice size late run kings, silvers, and early winter run steelhead. Most kings were copper color and 20 +++. They were in there thick as pinks are on the puyallup. My buddies and I took home our limits and had a great time. Fish Barrier dam!!!!
Funny I grew up around those parts and they are WILD this time of year!! One minor correction, the barrier dam is in lewis county. Tight lines
