Writing Reports
The reports pages were created to allow people to share information about how the fishing is at various locations and to generate a journal of sorts for each location that shows what times of year the fishing is good and which times are bad.
In order to achieve these goals it's necessary to write reports that contain the appropiate information. We promise not to be Nazi's about the whole thing, but since these reports benefit everyone including yourself I think you'll be glad you entered as much detail as possible in your reports a year or more down the line. Here are a few Do's and Don't's to keep in mind while writing your report.
Do aka Try:
Feel free to use your own style when submitting your report. Our users do everything from just stating the facts to telling what can only be called stories about their fishing adventures.
Always double check your report to make sure there're no mistakes. Once you submit it you won't be able to edit it.
Be specific about your fishing location when submitting reports for larger lakes/rivers.
Include the time you fished.
Tell us what you fished for.
Tell us what you caught your fish on.
Give us any additional information you feel is necessary such as what the weather was like, how deep you were fishing, and how badly you outfished Bruce.
Include a valid email address if you wish people to be able to contact you about your report or allow the mods/admins to contact you if there's a problem with your report.
Don't aka Don't:
Don't use the reports pages to just ask questions. We have forums that are active and full of friendly users. If you have questions about an area, but don't have an actual report to post, step on over to the forums and ask us.
Don't use the reports pages to engage in flamewars, tell tall tales (like the few we've had about monsters eating people's dogs out of local lakes), or to mislead the readers.
Don't try to zipperlip us! If you can't get specific about your location on the larger lakes/rivers then don't even bother.
Don't use foul language, be vulgar, or say anything you wouldn't normally say if you were standing in my house with a bunch of kids around you.
