Welcome to the FAQ... and thank you for taking the time to check it to see if it can answer your question! If you don't find the answer you're looking for here, please feel free to email the Admins and ask your question.
I keep getting an error message when I <insert activity here>... what do I do?
I'd like to set up real-time reporting on my fishing website. How do I get ahold of the software?
Requirements to use the Real-Time Reports Pages.
The Real-Time Reports Pages do not have any special requirements as they are no longer dependent on Session Cookies to do their thing. This is a fairly recent change, so if you experience any problems navigating or submitting a report, you should read further into the FAQ to learn what to do if you encounter errors.
Navigation has been made as simple as possible because we know not all of our users are computer experts. On the left side of your screen you will find a series of links you can click on. The first selection will list availible states. Click the one you want. The next selection will show all counties for that state. Click the one you want. The final selection screen will display a list of all locations in that county. Click on the one you're looking for.
Also, each specific report is linked to it's particular state, county and location. You can jump straight to where you want to go by clicking one of those links in the report itself.
If you want to reset back to the beginning, just click on the States button on the left hand side of your screen..
How do I find a location if I don't know what county it's in?
We've provided alphabetical indexes separated by lakes, rivers, and saltwater. These are handy if you don't know which county the location you're looking for is in. Simply select a state and you'll see the index buttons appear in the upper portion of your screen. Select one (Lakes, Rivers, Saltwater) to browse one of the indexes.
I can't find the location I fished at on your pages!
Our database, though quite extensive, is not perfect. Here's what to do:
Ensure you've navigating to the correct State and County.
Check the index pages.
Some areas have multiple names. Our database tends to use the same names your state agency, such as WDFW for WA, uses. For example, Twin Lakes in Arlington (Sno County) is officially known as Gissburg Ponds. Check your regs, check your state agency's site, or do an internet search to see if your location might have another name.
If all else fails, you can submit a request to have a new location added to the database by clicking here.
Whatever you do, don't post your report in a location other than the one you fished at. It confuses people and the mods will delete the report on sight.
Once you navigate to a specific location you will be presented with a form. Fill out that form and submit it to post your report. Be sure to double check your submission to correct any errors before you submit it.
Please note that you should only post actual reports. Click here for a basic set of guidelines.
There are several reasons for why your report may have been deleted. If your report did not fall under one of the following reasons, please email the Admins, explain the circumstances and then give them time to look into the problem.
Please note that under normal circumstances we do attempt to email anyone who's report we delete or edit. Obviously, this only works if we've been provided with a working email address.
Your report may have been deleted for one or more of the following reasons:
You asked for information instead of posting a report. We have forums where you're welcome to ask for any information you want, but the reports pages are for reports only.
Your report was inflammatory, harassing or contained an excessive amount of swearing. We determine what constitutes these things, not you.
Your report was for a location other than the one you selected.
Your report failed to meet the basic guidelines.
I keep getting an error message when I <insert activity here>... what do I do?
The reports pages are a work in progress. As components are changed and upgraded other aspects of the site can be inadvertantly altered. We do extensive testing to ensure the changes made will not have a negative affect on the users, but invariably bugs rear their ugly heads when least expected.
If you receive an error message or the pages simply don't appear to be working properly, first check below to see if your error matches any of the Known Errors. If not, then email Telki with as much information as you can. Try to include the following:
What were you doing when the error occurred?
Trying to submit a report? If so, which location (state, county, location)? Include a copy of your report in the email if possible.
Just navigating the site? If so, what link did you click on that caused the problem?
What was the actual error you received?
Copy/paste the full error into your email. This will greatly ease the process of nailing down the bug and fixing it.
If you're not getting an error, explain in as much detail as you can what doesn't appear to be working correctly.

Someone's posting a bunch of garbage, how do I report them?
You can email the Admins, or you can log into the forums and Private Message (PM) any of the following people to report abuse of the reports pages:
Telki
Wader
Fish Guy Keith
Chris Wilen
Easy LimitsThere's usually someone around at most hours to monitor the site and keep things clean, but we are all fishermen and prone to sudden absences. *grins*
I'd like to set up real-time reporting on my fishing website. How do I get ahold of the software?
This software is not availible to anyone. It was designed by Jason Caywood aka Telki exclusively for Gamefishin.com. Gamefishin.com has the rights to use and modify, but not to distribute the code.
Jason is not able to take on additional projects at this time, but he reccomends you look into learning ASP or ASP .NET and reccomends books by WROX to help in the learning process. Just don't violate our copyright.
