Gun Store Employees

Postby Clockwork on Tue Feb 14, 2012 1:33 pm

anyone ever notice that it seems like gun counter guys are some of the rudest "customer service professionals" out there. seems like they have the mindset that everyone is an idiot but them. kind of have the "everyones a noob" mentality. that, and gun range masters. just sayin.

Which store are you referring too?

And yes it does seem that way.

I was in there once on a Saturday and there was a lady there with her husband looking at a pistol for her, first gun. She was looking at three or four different ones, learning about each from the guy behind the counter. If you have ever been there you know what it looks like in there on a Saturday....wall to wall people. The lady couldn't decide and could see how busy the store was and said, "maybe we should come back some other day when it is not so busy" and the guy behind the counter said, "It is like this in here everyday." I have never had a rude person in there, however they do cater a little to there regular customers/big buyers. It is the kind of place that you just have to ask one of the guys, they are not going to come up to you ask if you need anything.

I used to work the guncounter at a large sporting goods store, and sorry to say but the majority of the people I dealt with were idiots and/or n00bs. However I was never rude to anyone and thoroughly enjoyed it when someone who knew what they were talking about came to the counter. An example of the morons one who works the guncounter typically deals with: A guy literally sat there and argued with how about how a 30-06 has more punch that a 300 Win Mag. I'm not condoning rudeness but I understand their frustration.

actually the biggest one on my list has actually improved as of late but its gun selection has gone down: Bens Loan. used to be in there all the time and no matter how many guns id buy they treated me rude and my dad rude and anyone else who wasnt one of their buddies. but i went there a couple times lately and there were all new guys.

but it just seems to be a rampant problem unique to the industry. seems like wherever you go the counter guys are busy BSing with their buddies that come in and have zer customer service skills at all.

For the most part, yes. I've seen a high percentage of rude gun shop employees. Gun Town in Lynnwood used to be pretty good. I liked those guys and bought a few guns from them. Too bad they closed.
The big shop up north depends on who you deal with. There's a certain guy there who has always been a richard head. Other employees there have been much better.
There's a little shop in Marysville called Puget Sound Security and the guys there have always been really cool with me.

Everyone's always nice to me. Marksman, Champion Arms, FWDG, Rainier, etc. Good experiences with all of them. I don't approach them thinking they will be nice, i just be me and don't try to act like i know more than i do.

OK, I saw the CZ thread first so I posted there.

My experience has been ruder sales people in music stores. Gun stores are busy, but I normally don't have problems there.

I have found the way to deal with this is be really nice . This bothers me in any store . They are there to sell and help people , makes me wonder what they would be working for , . But back to the really nice ,Just say " " DO YOU WORK HERE ?"or who is working the gun counter , ? Then say CAN YOU HELP ME ? . Usually " do you work here " Lets the implied message fly , And being really nice reminds them they ARE working , Works pretty good for me . ' I have said , Is anyone here working today ? Thats another implication , seems to work best when the guy with Manager on their name tag walks by also , try it some time ,
I can tell ya where it really pissed me off and does NO GOOD TO GET PISSED , Thats at the pierce county annex applying for building permits , Those GD mned people are taking my tax dollars for payroll . They were talking about their dogs while i waited in line , ,
A good day ends with all bones and ligaments attached .

I was at sams on 128th yesterday apparently they are selling out and have very little stock anymore. While i was there they were showing a revolver to a gal who kept pointing the thing in my direction while she was checking it out.I made a comment to the guy behind the counter about that he did nothing.Thats the first rule treat every gun as its loaded. The way she was waving it around she was way out of line and the counter should of put a stop to it.She was ghetto waving it around like a thug gang banger.I will never go back there EVER.

bought my first rifle at top kick in parkland some 30somthin years ago. have bought many there since. allways a pleasure. theve treated me like a good neighboor. across the street at gun n bow, well there's a reason why they have changed hands so many times and went out of business(they actually accused me of shoplifting when i was 9 or 10 years old when my mom sent me there to by some lead shot for her clocks).

lol at Top Kick :D

They have the most forgiving lay-away.... Just stop in every month... I have a bud that had a ~$2,500 rifle on lay away for 5 years.... Some months he paid $5 other months he paid $50... I think it was a tax return that broke it out.

You need your tetanus shot before you go in but after that, Top-Kick gets Tup: Tup:

I was over in Clarkston and stopped by the Walmart which they were selling the evil black rifles. I was kind of shocked they would be selling them but it was nice to see. The dude behind the counter knew nothing about them but it was nice to see in walmart.
