Love American style - pics & vid

Postby fishn2gthr4ever on Sat Apr 09, 2011 10:16 pm

Been itching to do some Kokanee fishing – decided to brave the wind and chill on American Lake today. 15 minutes after one of the downrigger balls went down, we had a fish on. The day was awesome - lots of fish and laughter. As a matter of fact, I felt 24 lbs. lighter after loaning my balls to the Wonder Twins (Steve & Trent). Great to have Wannafish aboard and to wave a "Hi!" across the water to Olybirds. Seemed like a mini GF.com reunion...

Check out the video to see some of the secret to Kokanee success, some scrappy Kokanee action and discover what new prank I played on my good-natured wife:

Another great video! Wish I could heve been there too. My neibor was out there also, he has never fished for kokes before. I hooked him up with downrigger balls, releases, doggers, net, a bunch of pre tied lures, some bait, and the phone number of a American lake expert who was on th ewater also. And what do ya know he went 5-8, not bad for a bass fisherman from Texas! Toni did you try where I was last Sunday?

Those look like some nice fish and fun to catch.
But then I think Wannafish and fishntgthr4ever always have fun fishing.

I'm just going to have to learn to fish for those kokanee and all the stuff I see on American Lake has got me wanting to go there.
Don't usually fish such big lakes but at least it isn't far away.

Wannafish, what's that rig you were using so successfully?

Thanks 4 the fun videos and report!

Brother KC! We are grounded today, taking care of a couple of chores before the nonstop angling action begins. I think you will be fine in the flat bottom on the right days - watch the wind situation. C&I have been out in our flat bottom a couple of times in windy conditions and (depending on the location) it has been harrowing… Whatever the conditions, please be sure to wear those lifejackets! C&I look forward to seeing you out on the water.

Thank you, Perry! We missed having you join us, but were glad to hear you got to spend some time with Jim. More Kokanee trips in the future? Heck, yeah: hopefully with a Baywolf twist added.

Thanks, Toni! It was kind of windy, eh? Thank you for providing all of the customized Kokanee gear!

Thank you, Dbfield. That net you gave to Toni worked a lot better than our big salmon net would have.

Thank you, Mr. John! There are some great people here that are always willing to give great advice. I am sure that you will have some exciting and successful Kokanee trips in your future.

Wacenturion, this was our first time Kokanee fishing on American Lake. Our understanding is that catching will get better as the temps get warmer. Hope to see you on the water!

You guys obviously had a lot of fun on the lake Saturday. But then you always have a great time. Love to watch all of your videos. I'm having a new water pump installed on my 140 Suzuki next week. Think I'll take it to American Lake for a test run.

Probably a good choice, KC. Word has it the bite will only get better as the water temps rise…

Maybe we'll try to hit it again Sunday. Hopefully I'll have my riggers by then. Should be more fun to fight them on mono rather than leaded line. We used the fancy North park launch and it was really nice. There's a $10 fee and the machine takes cc's.

I also always like your videos and pics. My kids get a kick watching them.

The North Park launch is on the Lakewood end...or more toward Lakewood on the north side....correct? Looks as if multiple in and out ramps as well as docks that extend out pretty far.
