It's exactly what I expected. I hope that in the future they change the rules for debates. All these pages of rules and agreements prior to the debate is flat out ridiculous. I like Newt's idea of the candidates, 9 wks prior to the election, going at it with each other for 90 minutes in a town hall setting, asking each other questions and confronting each other on issues. They do this once a week. I want a president that can do battle and answer questions on the cuff. This preplanned sound bite crap is just that, CRAP.

For me the best debate format this time around was hands down Charlie Gibson on ABC with the candidates sitting down informally and answering question at length (no 30 or 60 second clocks). It was the most engaging and informative debate BY FAR for both the D' and the R's. Tup:

The worst debate was that one with that dumb arse female reporter/writer from that small town bird cage liner. She was the one who tried to play Simon Says and raise your hands if you have to go to the bathroom game and wouldn't allow anyone to give an answer more than a few seconds on substantive issues. When Fred Thompson acted like an adult and refused to play the her 2nd grade game it was priceless. clap:

FF I was trying to make no particular point, just wanted to know why there was no Rep candidates there.

Just before I went to bed I listened to that other hero of the Reps on this site. Good old Rush was saying how good McCain was and how he would do a brilliant job if he was elected President. ;) Oops got to admit that was a joke, your hero stood his ground and haranged him. What I want to know is :- " What the hell is he going to do if the Reps elect McCain to be their Presidental Candidate." or

1 - Do a complete turn about face and begin backing McCain.

2 - Does he start backing Hillary/Obama because of his total dislike of McCain.

Come on lads and lasses now it is your turn to say what you think he will do.

Oh by the way I did not watch the latest debate between Hillary and Obama, I needed my beauty sleep.
Try to make somebody HAPPY every day.

The question about what Rush will do if McCain wins the nomination is a pretty easy one. He will do the only thing anyone else on the right can do, support McCain.
Hillary Clinton is the greatest motivator there is to drive Republicans to the polls in November. It will look like that scene in the movie "Field of Dreams" where there are cars and busses as far as the eye can see. They will all be heading to the polls to defeat "the force of evil". :D

The Kool-Aid swillers are thirsty again I see! clown: :D :D

Hey Einsteins... which network has hosted MORE of the Republican debates that ANY other? Why FOX News of course. :?

Talk about softballs... they tossed more there than an all-girl summer camp. clown:

Yo Sledge... you gotta be freakin' KIDDING me. BOTH McCain and Romney can barely get a coherent sentence out without mentioning their records and Ronald Reagan! Hillary would wipe the freakin' FLOOR with either of 'em in a head to head debate!

Hell... Romney has even STOLEN Obama's "change" theme. What a freakin' 'tard! clown:

So you was checkin' out Hillary's ass... huh? YIKES!!! :o

I doubt you would admit publicly that you was checkin' out Barack's too...

Birch is right (did I just say that? :o :D ) the ABC format has been the best so far.

One other little tidbit of info you right-wing remedials forgot to take into consideration is... NO ONE is forcing the candidates to debate on a particular network or in a particular format... they know what's comin' well in advance.

I actually respect the Repub's for debating on all of the networks... not just FOX. Tup:

Then again... NONE of the other networks hates the Republican party like FOX hates the Dems.

So much for media bias... conf:

Yeah... one show "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". conf:

Watch the crawl for just 5 minutes during a regular FOX news broadcast. 8 of every 10 headlines will concern the Democratic party in a negative light. Tdown:

Seriously? Do you ever really watch Hardball?

Yeah... he doesn't like the war in Iraq... but he doesn't like the Clintons either. The number of liberal and conservative 'analysts' he has on is pretty even too.

I don't like the fact that he talks all over his guests, interrupts them all the time, and seems incoherent near the end of each segment.

Nah, the name I came up with (Keith Overies) is much more fitting for the flagship host on PMS-NBC than the Great One's. :D

Oh dear, Please Sir John, tell me just who 'my man' is. I haven't decided as yet and any credible input will be considered. On second thought credible cuts you out of the picture.

If you wanted to do an archive search you might find where I suggested that McCain wasn't hardley a solid gold candidate. Aside for his obvious tendencies to be a liberal in mufti he has some service rep problems too. Ever hear of an officer leaving the service 'for the good of the service'? Just nasty rumour of course but the Hanoi Hilton may have well saved John from that unpleasant change of vocation. Being the son of an admiral probably helped too. You are not supposed to monkey with your Jr Officers monkeys. All that aside, I will vote for him if his opposition is a Clinton clan or an Obama/Oprah ticket.

I am glad you are ok FS. Although we seldom agree I suspect we are often on the same plank. Just a matter of technique. Dump those ciggies.

You folks that are McCain supporters, can have him. Anyone who says "I will never leave Iraq" is an idiot. Just like Bush was for going in there under false information given to the American people. One of THE MOST crooked administrations EVER. Now that "THAT" dynasty (The Bush's) is almost dead, I sure don't want another Clinton dynasty to start. I trust Hillary about as much as I trusted the Bush's (I never voted for either Bush, and thank god for that). She seems to be a filp flopper. Now she's against the war......then say you were wrong "Hillary". But "No", she can't even admit she was wrong.

About the only candidate that has even mentioned anything about the FORGOTTEN soldiers in Afghanistan is Obama. Bush didn't mention one word, not ONE word about those soldiers during his State of the Union address. What does that tell you about his character??? Aren't those soldiers just as important?? And the only time I ever heard Hillary say anything about those soldiers was AFTER Obama talked about them. Has McCain? or Rommeny(sic)???

It really pisses me off about all this talk from most of the candidates and this forum and on the news. We (America) don't give a damn about what's going on in Afghanistan. We went there before we went to Iraq. Our soldiers are being killed there too people. Leaving Iraq is NOT surrendering like McCain consistantly says. We need to get the hell out of there. The Iraqi government is just sitting back and doing NOTHING to help themselves. About the only thing they've mentioned is that they have come to an agreement on sharing "OIL" revenues with the other tribes. OIL folks, OIL.....That was not the reason WE (AMERICA) went in there for.....REMEMBER. We need to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Do you really think a war can be won based on a religion?? When haven't you heard of some kind of fighing happening in the Middle East?? It's been going on like that for 100's of years and America is not just going to go over there and stop it. Are you people THAT simple.

Yes...I am a Obama supporter. Yes....I do believe he can make changes. Yes....I do believe he would do very well with foreign policy. But it's not HIM that's going to be doing all of this by himself. It's who he will surround himself with, his administration.

As far as the debates. Who gives a crap what the Moderators are asking in their questions (it is what it is). It's been that way for many, many, many years. Some of you are more worried about "Chris Matthews, Keith Oberman and even a mention of Oprah". GET A CLUE PEOPLE!!! We're not voting for them.

If you want our military to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan with our soldiers being killed....then vote for one of the Republicans. If you don't, then we have a chance to get the hell out of there and Afghanistan with a democrat. You choose.

And that is NOT the sole reason I'm voting for Obama.

Just my three cents!!!

Your 2 cents are welcome.

McCain is right though. In the sense that we will be there a long time. Just like we're in Korea. Just like we're in Germany, and many other places we've built bases to have a presence in the region. Adds stability to the region. It's an honest and realistic statement... Tup:

IBCNUL8R. You are a typical selfish liberal. You don't see the big picture and don't pay attention. I will give you credit about our soldiers in Afghanistan. They are rarely mentioned and are doing a great job. We went on intelligence that was corroborated with several other countries. It was the Clinton admin that set in place the removal of Sadaam. Sadaam violated the agreement, I think 17 times, and was constantly firing on our aircraft in the no fly zone. I can go on and on and on. If you think we are doing the wrong thing over there, I disagree wholeheartedly. I have friends that have been there. They all agree that we should be in Iraq. I'd like to know what your feelings would be if Iran dropped a nuke, dirty bomb, or we experience suicide bombings on our soil. There is a bigger picture to this and you just don't see it because people like you are always thinking about yourselves and the small picture. I'd like to put your butt in the president's seat and see how you'd come out. I'd think with all the info, you'd do the same. Now go educate yourself, and take a close look at Obama. He manages to be absent for most of the important votes to take a stand on something. He is a lightweight and would fail miserably. Srtart thinking about your country and not yourself.
